SAMPE Benelux is once again looking back on a successful student meeting. The meeting was held on 23rd-24th May 2016, on the premises of this year’s host Teijin Aramid, Arnhem, The Netherlands. Students from a variety of institutes presented their work during the first day’s afternoon session. Topics, ranging from composite guitars to impact behavior of automotive composites, were well- received and critically discussed by the present audience of both students and professionals.
During the informal diner downtown Arnhem, discussions were continued and the afternoon student Award winners were announced: Jori De Baerdemaker (TUDelft/UGent) and Erik Krämer (UTwente/TPRC). SAMPE Benelux congratulates the winners on their achievement!
The two winners will be representing SAMPE Benelux during the SAMPE Europe student meeting which will take place during the SAMPE Europe Conference organized in Liège, Belgium in September 2016.
The meeting continued on the second day, with a visit to the facilities of Teijin Aramid in Arnhem with a large group of interested students. After the welcome and an introduction to the company, the research facilities were visited. During the tour a good insight in aramid fibre production and applications was obtained and a large number of questions was answered. After a small get-together and a light lunch, the meeting was closed around 12:00. The organization would like to thank the sponsors, KVE Composites Group and TPRC, who allowed us to organize the students meeting for the 14th time in a row now. Our special thanks go out to Tejin Aramid for hosting the meeting and organizing the company tour!
