The next Sampe Benelux meeting will be hosted by Brightlands Materials Center (https://www.brightlandsmaterialscenter.com/) ! This edition will be hosted online on the 11th of May and includes a virtual visit to the research center. Subscribe here: https://www.sampe-benelux.org/content/sampe-benelux-spring-meeting-2021. Below some words about the program.
Brightlands Materials Center is a research and development center, founded in March 2015 by TNO and the Province of Limburg (NL), with the mission to develop innovative materials solutions that contribute to a sustainable future. Brightlands Materials Center runs four research programs: Lightweight automotive, Additive manufacturing, Sustainable buildings and Circular packaging.
Lightweight Automotive focusses on hybrid thermoplastic composites in over-moulding and recycling. The program develops material modelling techniques, to optimize weight, reduce cost and development time, with a focus on lifetime prediction and adhesion between dissimilar materials; another development axis in this program is recycling technology to recycle (continuous) fiber reinforced composites, for re-use in structural applications.
Our Additive Manufacturing program develops Continuous Fiber Additive Manufacturing materials and technology for industrial application. The technology enables cost effective 3D printing of lightweight and freeform structural components that support improvement of sustainability in mobility markets. The program has also developed a self-sensing functionality by means of continuous carbon fibers in 3D printed components that allows for structural health and use dynamics monitoring.
The expertise of Brightlands Materials Center bridges theory and practice and is supported by dedicated labs for testing and processing
At the SAMPE BeNeLux Spring Meeting 2021 we hope to provide you an interesting afternoon session with insights in recent developments in the field of Thermoplastic Composites and Continuous Fiber Additive Manufacturing targeting solutions that contribute to a sustainable future. The meeting will end with a virtual visit to the labs of the Lightweight Automotive and Additive Manufacturing programs.
