About 45 participants joined the Sampe Benelux spring meeting hosted by TPRC on May 22, 2014. TPRC, the ThermoPlastic composites Research Center (TPRC) is a world-class innovation, research and development center in thermoplastic composites. This innovation center was founded by Boeing, Ten Cate, Fokker Aerostructures and the University of Twente. TPRC is located at the Business & Science Park next to the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands.
A number of lectures were given to address new developments in the field of thermoplastic composites which was the topic of the day. After an introduction of TPRC by Remko Akkerman, a very interesting mix of material developments (DSM, Econcore, TenCate and Bekaert) and processing technologies (DTC, NLR and SLC Lab) was presented by the invited speakers.
During the lunch at TPRC demonstrations were given on state-of-the-art thermoplastic composites processing technology and testing. The picture shows an impression of the demo on the hot stamp forming process, which features a high potential for large series production. The day was closed with an informal network meeting with drinks and snacks in the TPRC facility. We would like to thank TPRC for hosting this meeting.
